Cupcakes Schmupcakes!

Cupcakes are one of my weaknesses! They are small and easy to finish and somewhat a guilt-free indulgent of mine. Guilt-free, because it's small and technically has less calories than eating a whole slice of cake! well, for me that's my logic LOL! I went to Serendra, The Fort last weekend for one of my deliveries in Backstage and I remembered Sonja's Cupcakes is just around the corner! I can imagine the red-goodness of the Red Velvet Cupcakes in my lips! the store itself is a real masterpiece, the vintage look and feel to it is awesome. the even have Cath Kidstons umbrellas outside with matching seat covers (how quaint is that?)

There's my Red Velvet!

Ohh so yummy!

I bought 2 flavors actually, the other one is Pistachio something Cupcake (forgot the whole name). It's green in color with slices of strawberries on top that adds a nice contrast to the base color. There's only a hint of Pistachios though. Yummy, but too green for my tastes and it reminds me of The Grinch (forgot to take pictures sorry!). :/

I'll try to post recipe's of different versions of Red Velvet Cupcakes, saw a couple and would try to make a batch (crossing my fingers and toes).

Toodles!

Skipping Hardbounds and Paperbacks

I love love love my iPhone4 to bits! I love how useful it is to me and in terms of utilities a lot of apps provide with different kinds of use depending on what you need. I also found a very useful app to satisfy my readings. What is it you say? It's iBooks! Yeah, yeah, it's kinda hard to read on an iPhone because of the small screen, but it's in epub format so you can change settings to make it black and white or sepia mode etc. You can even change the fonts and font size which is very nifty. I really don't like the other similar apps, they tend to crash and I'm having a hard time getting used to it, unlike iBooks I easily moved my way around, it's so easy to navigate.

Here's some of the novels I'm about to read.

and more..

What I'm currently reading right now is the Vampire Academy Series. I swear when the Twilight series came out, I was sick of seeing other vampire novels! They're popping everywhere! The authors  are trying to follow the Twilight footsteps which is kind of ugghh (I guess for popularity sake? competing with Twilight? money? dunno..) Well, I tried reading VA Series, which was recommended by a friend. I was iffy at first because I thought it has this "Harry Potter" feel to it or it's a super teeny-bopper novel because the setting is in school. But, after reading the first two books, WOW! I must say it's really really nice! I just didn't feel the first book, I honestly don't like it. I didn't feel the thrill towards the ending. It surprised me that I gave it another shot, I tried reading the 2nd book which was absolutely awesome! Book 2 made me love the series! It's thrilling compared to the first one, so that made me read the the 3rd and 4th book. Now I'm on the 5th! I'm telling you it's worth reading (I swear!) and this series made me think twice on all of the vampire novels out there. I swallowed what I said earlier (gulp!) LOL! The setting for the first 2 series was in the academy, but as the story goes they move out of the academy and get into different kinds of adventure. The series has 6 books and I can't can't wait to finish the 5th one! Reading this gave me a new light to ALL of the vampire novels!

Vampire Academy Series

After VA series, I would probably read the House of Night series (HON) I'm into young-adult genre, can't you see?! I'll definitely give HON a shot! Teehee!

House of Night Series

Let me know what you think! :)

It's Frankenpolish To You!

You must be curious what is frankenpolish eh? Lemme introduce you to "Frankenstein of Polish" (a.k.a Frankenpolish) As you all know in some old horror movies they make Frankenstein by stitching dead human body parts to a body (human body? dunno..hmm) then electrocute it to awaken the so called masterpiece. But I'm here to tell you is that it's about nailpolishes. You call it Frankenpolish if you mix 2-3 (or even 4) colors to make another color (isn't that fun or what?!). You don't need a background on Chemistry to do this!

The most basic thing you need before making a Frankenpolish is your IMAGINATION.

What you need:
 - IMAGINATION
- Empty nail polish bottle
- Nail polish (the color of your choice)
- Orange stick - for mixing
- Color wheel -- super optional!

*Remember that WHITE nail polish makes the colors lighter, BLACK makes it darker (DUHH! LOL) and CLEAR ones can make you mixture less potent (use this sparingly).

What you should do:

1. Think of a possible NEW color you want to produce.

2. If you can't think of any, then experiment.

3. Grab a piece of white paper, then put a drop or two of your chosen colors then mix. You'll somehow get the idea of the outcome by doing this beforehand.

4. Once you've decided what colors you want, start pouring in SMALL amounts in your empty nail polish bottle. Remember also that you only have a SMALL bottle.

5. I suggest choose a not-so cheap nail polishes. If ever you don't like the outcome, you can just throw the contents away.

6. Have fun and EXPERIMENT! :)

Here's what I made recently.

light gray polish, black and some kinda old rose shade
I mixed 25% black, 60% gray and 15% old rose

and jaran! the finish product!!
The finished product has flecks of glitter, which i love! A neutral color, but with oomph! :)

I will post new ones next time!

Toodles! Experiment! Experiment! Experiment! ok?

Ring-A-Ding-Ding!

Jewelry is a girl's best friend (okay, 2nd best friend). A lot of us tends to *ehem*hoard*ehem* earrings and necklaces that they're getting out of hand (maybe it only applies to moi. Teehee!). Bracelets? Nah! not so much. I also notice this with my female friends and clients that they prefer necklaces or earrings as opposed to bracelets. We can't get enough accessories to adorn your precious lobes and necks because the designs are countless. But we sometimes forget about or fingers! we forget to adorn them with those cutey designs!

Recently I've been obsessing on collecting rings. Cocktail rings, medium sized ones etc. I want to invest on my personal collection (it's not like I could wear them all at the same time! LOL) and I would split them to my daughter and granddaughters (LOL!). Enough of the chit-chat, here are some of Les Roux's rings (available in Schu Rockwell Power Plant Mall)

Some of Les Roux's Filgree Rings and Snake Rings. I especially love the snake ones because they add sexy-ness to my black tips. I'll show my personal collection  of my uber-rings in another post.

Toodles! It's weekend yay! :)
